    3. Ah, sorry, Marie, I was assuming that you were intending to do the research yourself. If you are lucky there may be someone on this list who has a readymade family tree for you. Otherwise there are genealogists in Clare, some of them on this list, who will find your family for a fee. They might be your best bet. Jeanne Foley Dwyer, who is a very experienced member of this list and has at least one of your names and originates from that part of Clare, may want to jump in with more precise information. The details I have are - Mary Ann Nora FOLEY b. abt 1826 Myart, Co Clare married Michael Martin COLLINS in Aug 1845 in Carrigohall, Co Clare. Michael was born abt 1825 in Myart, Co Clare. Mary Ann's parents were Michael & Honor FOLEY nee KANE. Michael's parents were Martin & Margaret COLLINS nee McGRATH. Mary Ann & Michael arrived in Australia in 1855, along with various members of both families. There is a story in the family which I have decided to research a bit further - and that is the family is from a Spanish background. I do know that Mary Ann was reputedly found frequently on the verandah in the rocking chair singing Spanish songs/song. Any advice or help on where to follow this family further would be greatly appreciated. This is my first foray onto Irish soil :-) Many thanks in advance Maria Thomas LAKE MUNMORAH, NSW ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to IRL-CLARE-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to IRL-CLARE-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to IRL-CLARE-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message

    3. Hi, Marie, You have been given clues as to where to look for more information on your family lines. Clare's county library website is THE BEST on the whole island, unmatched as to its free and vast numbers of databases. There is no need to be in Ireland in person to find a lot of information. In fact, although I have visited "home" on fived different occasions, the great majority of information I have about my Foleys hasn't come from those visits, but from researching from the comfort of my own home in Indiana, USA. I suggest you try out www.clarelibrary.ie, using the information already given to you in regard to your place names (Moyarta and Carrigaholt, rather than the spellings you've found), and see what shakes out of the bag. Once you've done all you can from home, which you haven't yet, then post again with what you've found and what you need. Good luck!
