Maria, Thank you for the information on your Roughan family. I had communicated with you back in June of this year because I found your family on the rootsweb Message Board. I was very interested because, in the 1840 census, my Dennis (b. 1799) was living in China/now Arcade, Genesee County. By 1850, Wyoming County was formed from Genesee; China/Arcade was then Wyoming County. Our families could be related, although not siblings. We have brothers, Timothy, Dennis, and John, as well - all lived and died in Wyoming County, New York. After the 1850 census, these three were using Rowan; in 1850, they were Roughan and Rowhen.
