My ancestors Thomas Patrick O'Connor and wife Johannah May (nee Bowen) I have traced back as far as 1864 They were both from Ireland and eventually emigrated to England and then Canada. Family lore suggests Thomas was from either county Cork or Clare; more likely Clare. Johannah was from Limerick. According to Canadian census records they were both born 1837. At some time prior to 1864 they emigrated to England, living and working at Portsea Island (now Portsmouth). Three children, Thomas, Elizabeth and Mary Ann were born at Portsea Island beginning in 1864. There was possibly another son Patrick, born in Ireland. In 1867 the family emigrated to Canada. My question is, were any records ever kept of people such as this, who left Ireland for England during the period 1852 to 1864? I am trying to acquire more information on their time in Ireland, where from? marriage date? birthrecords? Other family members? Could anyone please be of assistance in offering advice or look ups? Much appreciated. Kelly O'Connor Ontario, Canada
