Hi, Clare Journal 24 Apr 1871 Birth At Knockane, Castle Martyr, the wife of James S. Carberry, J.P., of a daughter. Declan
Thanks, Declan. How I wish, for simplicity's sake, that the Evans-Freke family had not decided to be known as Carbery. By the mid-1800s they had spread all over Ireland, including Limerick (where that Knockane is located), from their original confiscated landholdings in the Bandon area of Cork. The irony is that they had all cleared off the island by 1930 and instead were being written up in newspapers for activities in Africa and California.
