    3. Tom is correct. I found that the Massachusetts Archives, attached to the JFK library at Boston Univ. has the Naturalization Papers in their Judicial Section. Now all we need is SKS in the Boston area willing to go there for Eric. 3. I am trying to sit back and not say anything, because this is the season of good will. However, there are instances when someone may do better by engaging professional services for research. Eric Shaw, introduced to the list via one such person, is likely able to also engage an American for that his research (see http://www.hoganstand.com/general/identity/extras/roots/stories/carrolls.htm and may well receive the desired information much more efficiently that way, in view of the scattered bits and pieces of guidance being offered on the list. I commend those stepping forward in the role of SKS, but, for one thing, I know there are 19th-century-naturalization cards for Mass. county/city courts at the Waltham NARA branch because I have collected all the Carberrys out of those when I lived up that way. I also know that Dennis Ahearn is a professional genealogist (besides being TIARA webmaster) who goes to that facility on a regular basis; there also may well be volunteers for that purpose on the various gen. lookup sites which may be found on Cyndislist.com. If Mr. Shaw is serious about finding his American-bound relative, there are better ways of going about it than floating an inquiry on this list. The free way is not the best way. Sorry to be blunt. Those on the list, such as myself, can go back to our own family research and doing holiday activities, without feeling that we are being stingy towards a fellow Clare descendant.
