This would NOT make it a Mormon center, as I understand. This would be a regular library using the LDS material and working through LDS to obtain materials. [I subscribe to Ancestry and have for years. I knew my father had worked on a ship/s around the world. All of a sudden, here is a document showing him on shipboard coming into San Franciso. I think that they have a picture of the ship that brought him to the States. That means sources are expanding. I tried to get Ancestry to copy all of the City Directories stored in the Los Angeles City Library. There was only one for Philly and the very one I wanted. My father stayed in Philly with his uncle. Telephone directories showed about the time this uncle died.] So many of the Irish went to so many different places in the world, there might need to be more records than just the Irish ones. I am clear in California. I am thinking of a map of Ireland. Dublin -- way to the north and east. Parking is terrible there as I understand. Cork and Waterford -- way south and east. Limerick -- does not even count. Ennis is the closest and easiest to travel to for all the west coast and the central part of the country. Plus it is relatively close to the Shannon airport for tourists coming in to visit. In coming to this research center people might want to stay over. That means overnight accommodations and eating and shopping places would possibly be more needed. If this makes a go, other centers might be set up and then drain from the Ennis location. But that would be in the future. The priests would be opposed to connecting to the LDS project of course, but people would have to convince them that they would benefit with receiving fees that they would not normally ever receive. Money could be a winning factor. Alanna --- On Mon, 5/16/11, Christina Finn Hunt <[email protected]> wrote: You did a great job with this Alanna. I have seen people saying they had no centre available anywhere near them before. Maybe there are ways of getting those people connected. Hope all goes well Larry. Keep us informed.
