    3. No those records do not belong to us.  The papers concerning our ancestors were done by our ancestors as members of an organization.  I grew up in a Catholic atmosphere and understand a lot that people who did not do not understand.  The priests here in the States were not as strict and did not have the power as they had in Ireland.  Times have changed the view of priests here and in Ireland, I think.   Yes, I understand the time and effort it takes to deal with people in different fields, as I have been there.  But holding things and not letting anyone see them can be a form of power.   Just recently, I with my limited knowledge and resources was trying to help a friend find some family.  But the person did not want to give me some information about the family in order to help her for Free.  I became tired of asking and there was nothing that I could in any way with the information for my self.  So, I gave up.  I have a lot of knowledge of a certain breed of dog and the training of that breed in many activities.  I do not breed.  But I become tired of trying to teach novices in those two areas.  So on one hand I am not happy with the holding of information that we ourselves do not own and yet understand the fools that demand time and effort to look at the documents and maybe destroy them.   I hope that I have made myself understood.  I want these records available to us in the best way possible.  If there are any scandals, the people should be long dead.   Alanna --- On Mon, 5/16/11, cathy carley <[email protected]> wrote: From: cathy carley <[email protected]> Subject: [IRL-CLARE] re church records To: [email protected] Date: Monday, May 16, 2011, 11:03 PM GDAY all:) Following on from Conversation in here re LDS films, I think we have EVERY RIGHT to be able to Look at Catholic Registers Re our ancestors born in Ireland And if some Catholic Priests are stubborn and Pig Headed re them, then I think thats Terrible..
