There are two search engines for that familysearch site. The new link does not work well. The old one down at the bottom is the better one. This as per the link I spoke with today. My source, name unknown, was told about the Limerick location and he could see the hours on his screen. What he is going to send to both Larry and me is a way to set up an alternate site to the Mormon locations. As I understand Clare County Library will be able to receive films and return them. Of couse, extra equipment will be needed and I cannot speak for that part of the equation. I not knowing anyone at the Library and knowing Larry so to speak suggested that he be the contact person. According to my source, all the information necessary will be sent to the two of us. I have the case number, but according to the source, you Larry will not need it. Larry, I am almost dancing the Irish gig. To think, if it is approved, there will be a local source for you'al over and above what you now have. Not that all the world's records will be there, but almost. Maybe if someone there is looking for a relative who had one of those Free One Way Tickets to Australia, it might be easier to research. In my location, many years ago there was a pretty good LDS family research center, but it is no longer good. I would now have to travel to Santa Monica. Well, I found that Utah had a microfilm of a graveyard in Mo. I could have asked for a loan, but instead I asked to be able to buy a copy for that Center. So, anyone all these years later can easily ask to see it. People locally for you could do the same for certain films. I so hope that this Library can approve this setup. You will not need to go all the way to Dublin or Waterford to look at things. The two hours in Limerick is not enough time to do any work. I used to walk a couple of miles downhill and back uphill to spend just minutes in a library to look at a couple of things during lunch. I do speed walking and I needed it to get back on time. Oh list, I can hardily wait to receive the post and then for the Library to do the ok with Larry as zee boss!!!! Larry, ask for fees to cover the costs of things other than the film!!! Having this ability should bring in more people and more money. Tourists could stop in when they had problems locating information. They would not have to go home for research. It would be right there. Larry, some years ago, I wrote up justifications for computers and supplies, so you will have to do that, I guess. So exciting!!!!!! To be truthful I held off replying to the Board until I collated all the posting to the Board and direct to myself. With the family search org. a number of us here in Clare were wondering how could we follow through with the information. I have learned at first hand over the last two days how to maximise the benefits of the site. [email protected] .com has never let me down. This information I have got is great. I have also sent off a request to the GRO here in Roscommon requesting a search. I seem to be just caught between the 1901 Census & records prior to 1900 with my request. I did apply locally without success but with the Church & State records. I know the record is there it is only just to find it. Alanna,Barbara. Kate, Liz, have all be great. To those abroad as members of Clare Diaspora I will try to put together a guide for all based on what I have received. While I know my problem seem to be reaching conclusion I hope to make contact with Clare County Library to add another facility to their research. I understand the Limerick Mormon Centre which is about 24 miles away from me is only open two hours of a Friday Night. We are trying to get further information on it. Thanks, Larry. p.s. Alanna I will look forward to the post. ----- Original Message ----- From: Alanna L Scanlon To: Larry Brennan ; [email protected] Sent: Monday, May 16, 2011 6:54 PM Subject: OK!!! Here we go Larry!!! I said that I'd help out Larry and his need of information. He has helped me in some things and now it is my time for pay back. I called the phone number I gave you Larry and spent a lot of time obtaining information for you. You will be sent by email, I did give out your addy, all the information you will need to receive the films. You will need to get the Library set up to receive and send back the films. The only locations at this time are in Dublin, Cork, Limerick, Waterford. If you can set this up, you will now have a location in Clare. I was given a case number for the information that I gave and you will receive. But you will not need my case number. I will be sent a copy of the information you will be sent just in case. My kin will not help me in my own search, but Larry has been helpful. So, I have done this to help not only Larry but all of you in your search and others in the future. Best wishes. Personally I have pinpointed a records I would like to gain further information on but we have no Mormon centre near us. We tried on a number of occasions to gain contact details with regard to the Limerick Centre without success. Would some one have direct access where we could pay or recommend an alternative method. Is mise, Larry. ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to [email protected] with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message
