    3. Yes. Mary Ellen, I also received the notification - it was from the Galway site. I have been fortunate (through this wonderful Clare site) to locate many of my relations still in Ireland....it is those of us spread all around the world who are linking up with descendants of our ancestors....knowing someone for many years but not being aware that they are a second cousin! Surprise! Surprise! I know that this subject has closed but I am a few days late in catching up with my emails so hope that the Admin will allow it through . On the other issue of Parish priests - I worked for many years in a Parish and we would supply information upon request - I would do this outside work hours in my own time - sometimes we would receive a donation - most times nothing. I didn't mind doing this until we received a request from someone who wanted copies of all baptisms, marriages and deaths in the records which related to their family. These amounted to over 55 pages and I wrote a short note to the person concerned asking if they would mind sending a large envelope with a certain amount on it to cover the postage cost. (We were not a very wealthy parish and every cent had to be accounted for). The response I received was quite abusive that I should dare to ask for the postage cost etc.etc.(remember I did not ask for the cost of paper, printing, time etc. nor for a donation to the Parish, just an envelope and postage). Needless to say, the information was never forwarded and from that time on it was decided we would not supply anyone with information. One "bad egg" killed it for everyone else - including those genuine and generous researchers. We were sorry to have to take such a stand. I often seek information from Church and other archives and ensure that I enclose a small donation and, if I do have it, any information or photos etc, that may help them in their record keeping. This is always appreciated. Regards, Kay ----- Original Message ----- From: "Mary Ellen Chambers" <[email protected]> Subject: [IRL-CLARE] Catholic Sacramental Records in Ireland
