The Xaviers who appear in the censuses seem to be often Indian-born, which figures, it's a Spanish/Portuguese surname I think Sorry not to be of more help Regards Margaret -----Original Message----- From: Larry Brennan Ireland Sent: Friday, March 04, 2011 8:31 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [IRL-CLARE] English Records Look Up Please Friends, I am trying to assist with a local rearch with regard to Anne Reilly (O'Reilly) Born circa 20th. Xavier is in fact a basque name that has been borrowed into Spanish and now into english. All of the Catholics on the list will known Ignatius of Loyola which is a Spanish version of Xavier. The founder of the Jesuits was a basque and his home town is high in the Basque mountains, in a town called Azpeitia, see http://www.santuariodeloyola.org/intro.htm?lang=EN jon On 05/03/2011, at 8:49 PM, Margaret Garthwaite wrote: > He doesn't seem to be in the censuses, and there don't seem to be any births > early enough to apply. > > The Xaviers who appear in the censuses seem to be often Indian-born, which > figures, it's a Spanish/Portuguese surname I think > > Sorry not to be of more help > > Regards > > Margaret > > -----Original Message----- > From: Larry Brennan Ireland > Sent: Friday, March 04, 2011 8:31 PM > To: [email protected] > Subject: Re: [IRL-CLARE] English Records Look Up Please > > Friends, > > I am trying to assist with a local rearch with regard to Anne Reilly > (O'Reilly) Born circa 20th.
