Hello listers, I have rejoined the Clare list after quite a break and would like to list my interests. Five McMahon siblings came to the Australian goldfields from the 1850s: Thomas McMahon born c1833, married Hanora Hartigan at Barefield in 1854. Thomas and Hanora immigrated to Australia shortly after their marriage. Patrick McMahon born c1836. Catherine McMahon born c1837, married John O’Brien at Barefield in 1861. Catherine came to Australia with two children Patrick and Mary, but without John. Presumably he died in Ireland. Mary Anne McMahon born c 1838 Ann McMahon born c1839. These were all children of Michael McMahon and Anne Collins. Whilst I have no definite information on Michael and Anne, I think I may have found him on the Griffiths Valuation at Ballycorey. Putting together all the information I have from the children’s marriage and death certificates, I think the Ballycorey Michael McMahon may be my man, although I am prepared to change my mind on this if I find information to prove me wrong! I would love to make contact with anyone researching this family, or any other McMahon family from Ballycorey to try to unravel my McMahon mystery.
