the bride could get married in another parish besides her own, for instance if she had moved too far away from her own parish. But she had to write to her parish priest and get all the details of her life, such as birth/baptismal/first cummion etc.. from her parish priest, and also an undertaking from priest that she had not married in her own parish already. The banns for 3 weeks previous are read and/or published in ALL the parishes the bride and groom have been registered. There are occasions when this is not followed. One example was my granddaughter. In this modern time, one does not have to be married in their parish, at least in the Diocese of Cleveland, OH. Therefore, when the priest my daughter wanted to have marry her in her home parish, was unable, she opted to be married in her (now) husband's parish. "Back in the day" the RC was not as liberal. The bride's parish was the place of marriage. I usually start with the bride; if I come up without anything, I then try to find the groom's parish or check to see if in the pre 1864 sacramental records his name is listed in the same parish as the bride but only her given is listed.
