The Xaviers who appear in the censuses seem to be often Indian-born, which figures, it's a Spanish/Portuguese surname I think Sorry not to be of more help Regards Margaret -----Original Message----- From: Larry Brennan Ireland Sent: Friday, March 04, 2011 8:31 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [IRL-CLARE] English Records Look Up Please Friends, I am trying to assist with a local rearch with regard to Anne Reilly (O'Reilly) Born circa 20th. 3. Thanks and apologies to all with regard to this queries. On "mature reflection" as we say here in Ireland Kay is quiet correct. I had an actual relation of both Kay and I with me yesterday evening and we were reviewing the family link we he highlighted. Foolishly after leaving me I reviewed his notes that he had listed Anne married to John Xavier Harrington. I had presumed Harrington was a place. O.K. one slap on the wrist to me. Thanks to all for getting involved. I will be linking up with Kay direct with more information for her. Thanks, Larry. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Kay Clarke" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Saturday, March 05, 2011 1:57 AM Subject: Re: [IRL-CLARE] O'REILLY > > Subject: Re: [IRL-CLARE] English Records Look Up Please > > >> Hi Larry > > Anne (or Anne-Jane as she was later known in Australia) was the daughter > of > James and Anne O'REILLY - a younger sibling of my grandmother, Agnes. > > Ann married John Xavier HARRINGTON (born County Cork c1850s) on 20 Nov. > 1900 > in Hughenden, Qld. 3. Larry,       I just GOOGLED English census records and found data for my family.  The census started, I think 1841.  I was able to track them to 1911, but could have continued.  My g g grandfather was a coach maker.  I felt that since he expired and his son continued on but had moved.  With automobiles coming soon into the picture, figured those ancestors who were wheel wrights and carriage makers may have change occupations.  So many with same name made it kinda difficult to track.  Will do it someday when I have the time.       However, they are free and on line.
