    3. I may be incorrect, but I thought NYC has Diocese Archives for old sacramental records.  Most of your older Diocese has them.  In Cleveland, one cannot research yourself but you can send a written request with the data you have.  There is a very minmal fee.  The turnaround here can be months because there are only a few people doing it.  Also, which might be true for NYC as in other cities, with the forced closing of RC churches, the sacramental records from those parishes is an overwhelming job.  Therefore, research requests are on the back burner. Also, subscrube to the NYC or New York rootsweb list.  There are probably people who help you. Since this is a County Clare list, I just assume it is NYC, however, Cleveland OH has streets & RC churches of the same names. Digest AND regular list users should all try to clean up the text to keep the emails shorter and easier to look at. You can drag your cursor down to highlight everything you are not replying to. Then hit DELETE. Then begin your reply. It only takes a minute and makes life happier. Thanks, Christina List Admin

    3. Larry, I think last time I looked was before 1911 became available. But I looked yesterday and in 1911 there was another Sullivan family in Ballard Rd that I didn't recognise. The head was too old to be a son of James, and almost too young to be a brother. I was hoping somebody might have James' brothers etc and could bridge the gap. I'll have to go back and see if there were two families in Ballard Rd in 1901. I'll also have to look at 1911 and see if I can trace any of the descendants of James. Peter

    3. Larry, Thanks for that. What data I have must be taken from the same book. I was just looking at Ballard Rd, Milltown Malbay. I had found James and Mary in 1901 census at that address with some of their children. But they look to die before 1911. I was kind of hoping that I might find some current day descendants, or some records that would get me back to the origins of James & Mary. Peter

    3. Are there any lists/records of those who had to stay at the workhouses and the times they would have been there? I am particularly interested in the names of any CARMODY in Clare and Cork from 1820-1870. Since I have not found my Carmody family or any information on them, only knowing my Carmody's started out in Clare and lived in Cork at least from 1825-1870 before immigrating to Middlesex England. I have only a possibility of Carmody kin in Kilbrin area, Cork.

    3. Any hints or links to these families will be very much appreciated. Bridget Ryan was born somewhere in Clare about 1839 to Patrick Ryan and Ellen Martin. Bridget came to Victoria where she married Samuel Platt in 1860 and had nine children including Samuel Platt Jnr b1863. James Sullivan married Mary O'Brien in 1864 at Miltown Malbay, where they had 10 children. The eldest daughter Bridget Sullivan b1866 migrated to Victoria where she married the above Samuel Platt Jnr. I have most of the Australian descendants of the above, but would appreciate any help with Clare origins or siblings that stayed in Ireland. Peter in Sydney

They had four sons: Thomas b. 1866, John who died in infancy, John b. 1871 who was a postman and Patrick. They had six daughters, Brid, a linen weaver, Mary, Ann, Margaret, Catherine and Ellen b.1889. John (jack) Sullivan listed above married Sissy O' Gorman, Flag road. They had four sons: John, Patrick who played football with Club and County, Jimmy (below in photo in Book) and Alphonsus. They had two daughters: Chrissie and Mary who both died in their 20's on retiring from the USA. Jimmy Sullivan married Cathleen Lennon from County Louth and had two sons: John - who had a good singing voice - and Jimmy. They had one daughter, Mary Carmel. Jimmy was a postman who known to have flashes of flamboyance on the football field. Paddy Gorman of the Terrace who claimed descent from the O'Gorman Mahon married Jimmy's aunt. 3. About the book on Google.Books - you can change the page to text - see under the blue title bar - to the right "Plain text" - click and it turns it into plain text - pretty accurate but check it to be sure. Then you can copy and paste into another page for your own distribution. Select the beginning of the text you want to copy and place the cursor here, scroll down highlighting the text then strike CTRL and C (this copies all the highlighted text) and then on your own blank page place the cursor and then strike CTRL and V. It should copy into your page. Also you can search these - see search box to the left. Makes it much much easier.
