    3. A Chairde, With the improved search facilities that the Church Of Latter-day Saints have made available can anybody advise us here in Clare with regard to gaining access to further information. Personally I have pinpointed a records I would like to gain further information on but we have no Mormon centre near us. We tried on a number of occasions to gain contact details with regard to the Limerick Centre without success. Would some one have direct access where we could pay or recommend an alternative method. Is mise, Larry.

    3. Here is the Main Family History Center BUT the number is a USA toll free number, so do not know if it will work in Ireland.  Maybe you have to use a different set of front numbers.   1/ 866/ 406-1830   Alanna

    3. Larry, the Santa Monica LDS Temple, CA is somewhat near me.  This is Sun out here and of course it is closed.  Monday they are closed. I have a family member who is ill and that comes first.  I am not LDS!  I will try to contact the Family History Center on Tues and if I have permission, I will try to call them and read them your post.  If you would like to add more information to your post below, that is fine.   The Family History Center [think that is the name] is not the Temple itself.  It is a different building and section.  This one is one of the biggest collections and is suppose to have one of the best Irish sections.  It is far from me and one has to drive through terrible traffic to get there.   The web site Ancestry.com may even be owned by the LDS, if not, it is very connected.  The original PAF computer program was set up by the LDS so that their members did not have to spend a lot of money to set up their family trees.   If I find their phone number before Tues, I will send it to you privately.   Alanna --- On Sun, 5/15/11, Larry Brennan <[email protected]> wrote: From: Larry Brennan <[email protected]> Subject: Re: [IRL-CLARE] Church Of Laterday Saints Access to Films. 3. I recall you can fill out a form with all the details for a record (like a certificate number etc) and they will copy that precise record for you. I would do that if I needed many certificates and it would cost perhaps 2.00 a copy. I just found the form, yippee -------> http://www.familysearch.org/eng/search/RG/images/FReqMicrofilm.pdf This is the best kept secret of the Morman's! It's really cheap. It looks like they service outside the US as well. This works if you have precise information that you found in the library catalog. They won't search for you but they will make copies of pages for you. Know what I mean? Good luck! (that seems the answer to your prayers there, Larry.) 3. I wonder if anyone has Sullivan ancestors who migrated from Clare to Sydney c1865-1885. Bridget Sullivan was born 1866 in Milltown Malbay, Clare to James Sullivan b1838 & Mary O'Brien b1846. She was an Assisted Immigrant to Sydney in 1885 aboard Gulf of Venice. Shipping papers note she had an uncle in Sydney. Now the uncle could be a Sullivan or an O'Brien or even a husband of a sister to either. Unfortunately, I don't have any siblings to James and Mary. All I know was that James' father was Thomas Sullivan and Mary's father was Michael O'Brien. Can anyone help please. Peter Booth

    2. The public can use the National Library in person. They won't do research for you, but they do have a list of researchers on their Web site. The Clare Heritage Centre is not part of the Clare Library. You can learn more about both by Googling. Diane

    2. Milltown Malby RC records have been filmed from 1831 to 1880 and are held by the National Library of Ireland in Dublin, might show the baptisms of James and Mary and their siblings, as well as the marriages of some siblings. (Clare Heritage Center appears to have baptisms only.) Not filmed by the LDS, so you'd have to pay a Dublin researcher to search for you. Diane

    3. Friends, We have been asked to assist with the following request: You will be able to see from the attached that Ann has exhausted all know sources and her research sources are a guide to others seeking similar photo's. REQUEST: I am contacting you in the hope that you may help me in acquiring a photo of Dangan House in Quin. Olivia and Clara Creagh were the last landlords to live there, Olivia died in 1947 at Ennis. I have checked with The National Library, The National Archives, The land Commission who dealth with the sale of the estate in the 1920's and the Solicitors in Dublin who were the Creagh Solicitors but to no avail. Hugh Weir the Author of "The Houses of Clare Book" does not have a photo of the house. I have also checked with Clare Local Studies Library. Unfortunately I was unable to get a photo of Dangan House. My father Paddy Lawlor's family were tenants on the estate and this is why I would like to see a photo of the house. The House was demolished in 1948. I was wondering if anyone would have a photo of the house. I have checked with all the neighbours in the Dangan area and no one seems to have a photo of the House. I work as a Branch Librarian at Tulla Library, in Tulla and have a big interest in local history in the Quin and Tulla area. Many thanks. Ann McNamara Any help or guidance would be appreciated: Larry Brennan.

    3. I have just learned of the Ireland Genealogy website. (Nothing to do with IGP) The website contains the results of pension applications. If a person was applying for a pension, they had to supply information from the 1841 or 1851 census to prove they were alive then. The census records were still in existence at that time of the requests for a pension. This website will let you search (for free) for a person who might have been old enough to apply for a pension. If you find someone it is 2 pounds to look. About $3.40 In theory the parents names would be given. So, a way to try and access those missing census records. http://www.ireland-genealogy.com/ I just wanted to let you know. It might help. Christina again not affiliated with this site

    3. Ann and Larry, I don't have a photo but would be interested in finding connections with other tenants and even more about the Creaghs. The St. Johns in the early 1800s were tenants there. My gr-gr-grandfather Michael St. John from Quin Clooney (Dangan) married Mary (Mc)_Carty from Tulla in 1830 in the Parish of Tulla. He and some brothers worked on Creagh estate until they moved to Newmarket-on-Fergus in 1835-6. There my gr. grandfather John was baptized in 1843. Sponsors were Michael Dillon and Mary St. John (Moloney) Two or three St. John brothers then moved in 1844/45 to Kilmaley Parish, Town of Booltaigh. I was wondering whether Creaghs had land there also. They emigrated to England sometime in the late 40s or early 50s and from there in 1867? my gr grandfather and his new wife Margaret( McTeague) sailed from Liverpool to the U.S. although I can find no ship record. There was also a William St. John who owned land in Inagh, Townland of Bauntlieve--appears on Griffith Valuation (1855) The old house was still there but in disrepair--no occupants since 1990. Not sure of the connection with my family but descendants of William's family live now in Miltown Malbay. There were other families of St! . John in Cratloe (No. of Limerick) and Kilrush and Flagmount. No further record of them. Of course a Thomas St. John had land near Bunratty in the 1700s maybe connected also with McNamaras and Stackpooles. Maybe Creaghs knew them also and who knows maybe they fell on hard times and my Michael and brothers ended up on Creagh land at Dangan as tenants. Mysteries. Anyway I would appreciate any further info. anyone has. Thanks, Donald Patrick St. John ________________________________________ From: [email protected] [[email protected]] On Behalf Of Larry Brennan [[email protected]] Sent: Thursday, May 05, 2011 8:11 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [IRL-CLARE] Dangan House Quin Friends, We have been asked to assist with the following request: You will be able to see from the attached that Ann has exhausted all know sources and her research sources are a guide to others seeking similar photo's. 3. I will look it over. I think a picture is on its way.. I have not got it yet. but they are looking. Mike and Nora Joyce were rancher in the valley I was raised. The family do not own it anymore. My aunt Marie Joyce married my Dad's brother Walter Buckingham. My dad and Walter were full blood Englishmen and of course aunt Marie was a full blood Irishman. Buckinghams were all ranchers in the same valley. aunt Marie was only 16 when she married my Uncle Walter. they had three wonderful children that all became ranchers in the valley. I was very close to my cousins. Virginia and Wayne still live in the town. Wallace moved to Billlings. they are all very nice and wonderful people. Virginia is 82 years old and does not look it. that is the Irish blood that did that. You are a second cousin to Virginia, Wallace and Wayne.. Your father was a first cousin to Marie, Francis, Walter rand Honor Lucy. And then of course Patrick J. and Honor were brother and sister. 3. Larry, The nearest I can get is a death registered at Birmingham in Sep-Dec qtr 1970 (Vol 9c Page 266) of James Patrick Birmingham given birth date 27/2/1924. You would need to purchase the death certificate from GRO quoting above references to get any further details (if they were known to the informant). Peter Booth (Sydney)
