    1. New Lister -- Hi!
    2. Regi M
    3. Hello fellow listers, I am new to this list and would like to share what I have and what I am searching for; as well as ask for your experienced insights about Cavan County. The family (or families) I am seeking, I believe came from Cavan County, Ireland, before migrating to Canada. While I have found nothing concrete, there is enough circumstantial evidence to believe this is the case. Not to mention, many of the families they married into were very populous in that County. For all the data that I have, my genealogy is uploaded to World Connect Project on Rootseweb.com...the link is listed below. As for a brief insight, here's the 411... FAMILY OUTLINE: Edward Ross, b. c1797, Ireland; d. bef. 1881, Marlborough Twp., Carleton County, Ontario, Canada m. Anne Cairnes Elliott, b. c1796, Ireland; d. 9 Jan 1878, Marlborough Twp. Children: William H. Ross (b. 16 Mar 1819, Ireland; d. 27 Oct 1903, Marlborough Twp.) John Ross (b. 1824, Ireland; d 1 Nov 1895, Marlborough Twp.) Mary Ann Ross (b. 12 Jul 1830, Ireland) Edward Ross, Jr. (b. 1831, Ireland) Alice Ross (b. 1832, Ireland) Andrew Ross (b. 1833, Ireland; d. 27 Jan 1887, Marlborough Twp.) Eliza Ross (b. 1834, Ireland) Jane Ross (b. 1835, Ireland) William H. Ross was still alive in 1900 when it was required that all aliens note their year of immigration. His year listed as 1842. His sister, Mary Ann's immigration year is listed as 1844. It's possible that they may have just not remembered (given they were both pretty elderly when they gave the info. If not, then the older brothers must have come over first, then sent for the family to join then. There are land records for William and his brother, John, in the mid 1840s, then a few years later, land records show up for Edward and Edward Jr. Edward and Anne were married about 1818. Unfortunately, there appears to be no link to where they all came from in Ireland. But, as I noted, many researchers of this line have been led to Cavan County. Families that married into the Ross line include: Potter, Elliott, Craven, Montgomery, Halpenny (var.), Good, Flood, Reddick. Well, that's about it. I would love to hear from any of you that may have some advice on what I can do next to find my family. I understand records in Ireland are quite limited because of that fire and the fact that they were not the best in keeping track of important events. Any insights would be very appreciated. Thanks! and very nice to meet you all!
