    1. [IRL-CAVAN] Roll Call - ROURKE, FALLON

    3. Fellow Cavan Researchers -- I am new to the list and currently searching for Cavan connections. Specifically I am searching for information on John and Mary (nee unknown) ROURKE and their extended family members. John and Mary, both born circa 1820, were land occupiers in the Townlands of both Upper and Lower Corratober, in the parish of Killinagh, County Cavan, during the 1856-57 period during the Griffith's Valuation compilation. John's son Terence ROURKE, born circa 1841, married Mary FALLON, the daughter of Thomas FALLON of Stranamart, in January of 1868. Once married, Terence and Mary lived in the Townland of Stranamart, parish of Killinagh in County Cavan. Thomas FALLON is also listed in the Griffith's Valuation as a land occupier at that time. The identity of John and Mary ROURKE's other children remains uncertain -- although there were probably at least two other sons, Pat and John ROURKE. Terence and Mary ROURKE had nine children in Stranamart between the years 1869 and 1885: Pat, twins - John (my gf) and Thomas, Mary Anne, Catherine, Sicily (aka Cecelia), Terence, Ellen, and James. Terence's daughter Ellen ROURKE married a John M'HUGH (MCHUGH-M'HUGH) who, I believe, was also from Stranamart. John and Ellen had six children, all girls, and remained in Stranamart until she died in 1943. My gf John ROURKE, as well as siblings Catherine and Sicily, emigrated to the east coast of the United States -- John and Sicily to the Boston area and Catherine to New York city. John married Elizabeth CORCORAN from county Kilkenny, Sicily (Cecelia) married Michael GRIFFEN from county Galway, and Catherine never married. Thomas ROURKE died as an infant or small child, Pat and James are believed to have died young. I have no information on Mary Anne or Terence. Thanks in advance for any assistance or insights you might provide concerning the ROURKE, FALLON, and MCHUGH families, or -- churches and cemeteries of that area and era. Cheers, Jim O'Rourke
