My grandfather's grandfather was Samuel Hart, born in 1814 or 1815 in (we think) Co. Cavan, or at least nearby to Co. Cavan. Samuel Hart married Rebecca Kelly, probably in Co. Cavan, and we do know they left for Canada soon after. I do not know on what ship they sailed, nor where they landed in Canada, nor when, but I do know where they lived in Canada, and I believe Samuel was in Canada in 1835. There is a map with the name S. Hearte in the town where I know they lived, and that map is dated 1835, so it must be my Samuel. Samuel Hart was my grandfather's grandfather. I do not know his parents' names -- I certainly would love to discover them. Rebecca Kelly's parents were James Kelly and Jane unknown. In Ireland, James Kelly married Jane unknown. I don't have a date or location for their wedding. They had four daughters: 1-Anna Bella or Isabella b. abt 1800 She married John Caughey on 17 Jan 1828 son of Nicholas Caughey. He was born about 1800 in Ballyshiel County Armagh, Ireland. He died 25 Nov 1871. 2-Jane Kelly b. 1800 married David Jeffrey and she was married in 1831. 3-Mary Kelly married James McHenry on 23 Apr 1830. 4-Rebecca Kelly married Samuel Hart on 15 Mar 1840. They went to Canada soon after. James Kelly, Rebecca's father, died before 1839. The Cana House in Cavan has nothing about Samuel Hart or Rebecca Kelly. Well, they did find a Samuel Hart who had a daughter named Margaret Hart in 1831. I have found no way of connecting that Samuel Hart with my Samuel Hart. They also conducted a search for the name Rebecca Kelly on their database but did not locate any entries for that name. There are lots of entries for the name Kelly but none for Rebecca. So, though family memories are that our homeplace was Co. Cavan, I have not been able to find any connection that appears to be real. And you can see that one of those daughters married a man from Co. Armagh......... So -- if you find any Harts, or the mother of Rebecca Kelly (James Kelly's wife), or any marriage dates for Samuel Hart and Rebecca Kelly or for James Kelly and his wife, or for Samuel Hart's parents, that would be fantastic.
