Hello from Australia I saw your item on the Cavan list about the Smith family. This is a long shot, but I am wondering if you can link my Smith name into your family. The death certificate of my gt grandfather, William Latimer, lists his mother as Isabella Latimer, nee Smith. Isabella married James Latimer, William was born, approx 1841 and married in Ashfield, County Caven. William moved to New Zealand approx. 1885. Thanks for reading my enquiry. Jill Finch

Hi Jill, I wish I could help you, but have been unsuccessful in finding out anything on my great grandparents who lived in Arnagh, Co. Cavan (or at least that is what is written on my grandmother's birth certificate. She was born 1867 to Patti (as written) and Ellen Smyth (McCaule - as written). Have you tried a search engine for Cavan and/or Ashfield? They may prove beneficial, although I wasn't too lucky going that route. I guess I will (hopefully, some day have to go to Ireland and do some research. Good luck with finding your lost relatives.
