Hi Rosemary: I have been searching Smith Smyth family who came over from Ireland around very early 1800s. ,James Smyth came from Cavan country and he was married to a Christiana McCallum. Apparently she was Irish/Scottish and her family may have been from Pershire Scotland. When I saw the name Smyth I thought I would answer you. James Smith ended up near Aylmer Quebec and had his marriage rehabilitated around 1832 in a Roman catholic church near Ottawa. James Smith has 6 children. My ggggrandfather was Owen, a daughter named jane who married Andrew Keon who also came from ireland (Fermanaugh). James also had 4 other sons who moved on to california USA. When he moved to the US the name was spelled Smyth. Some of the boys stayed with Smith, so i thought I would ask you about your Smyth name. There are also McKeon, McHugh, Keon, and I believe a Catharine Smith who came later from ireland to marry someone in canada. I don't have all me papers in front of me as I write this. Interested to know of your Smyth name and where they emigrated to and if you know of the Smyth Smith who left ireland. Never know where this genealogy will lead us. Thanking you in advance, Merle Smith Rosemary McKinley wrote: > Researching SMYTH, EDWARDS, BANNON in Templeport Parish, Co. Cavan, 1850 on. > > Rosemary McKinley
