    3. Hi, I'm writing from Australia, and hoping someone can help. I'm in search of a Henry Smith who was born in 1843/1844/1845. and his father was Henry Smith. Apart from that I have very little details on him. Is there a web site, or government web site that is a good one to research someone, that you don't have a lot of information on, or any web sites that you think are helpful. Any help will be appreciated. Also is there any web sites for passenger ship list of people who left Ireland and came to Australia. We know Henry was here before 1869, because he married in Auburn in South Australia then. Thank you, and I await any replies Tracey Ives Australia

    3. Hi Tracey, I can't help a lot but I know you can research for passenger lists online, but I think it is only for those who paid their own way. I guess the Assisted passenger list would be huge.. Try putting Unassisted migrants or something similar into Google and see what you come up with. I think the website address has changed from when I tried last. I have seen the microfiche for this at the Victorian Public Records Office in Melbourne. What I can't tell you is whether that is only for the ships that came into Victoria. My great grandparents by name of Kemp also arrived into South Australia from Cavan, and it was on the ship Adamant arriving a year apart so 1863 and 1864. They married at the BC Mission House in Auburn Sth Aust and their kids born around Auburn, Blyth's Plains, McCloud Bay etc Perhaps yours and mine knew each other! I certainly empathise with you having Irish ancestors. I haven't been able to get far at all with mine and both having the same surname didn't help at all, at all! Where in Cavan did Henry come from? One lot of mine was from Castleterra and the other lot from Urney.
