I'm finally beginning to get a little more info on my Patrick Tully from County Cavan who settled in Bloomfield, Illinois. I hired the Cavan Research Centre, but they really didn't have much except a list of several Patrick Tully's born in the 1833 timeframe. One possible clue that I have is that Patrick named his first born son Andrew, which might give a clue on the name of his father/grandfather. So, I've decided to try a different attack on the problem and see where the other Irish families who settled in the Bloomfield, Illinois, area might have originated. A descendent of the Daugherty family there told me, "my ancestor came from County Cavan, in the Parish of Kilsherdany and not far from Cootehill." In looking on the baptismal records from the research centre, I find that one of the Patrick Tully's listed from the research center was also born in this parish of Kilsherdany. He was born on 14 March 1833, in Drumleague, son of Michael and Catherine Connell Tully. This Patrick Tully had no siblings at the time of his birth and I can find no family history of him talking about any siblings. I also find one of the two Patrick Tully's of the appropriate age who immigrated to America with no siblings, but another one with a brother named Andrew.. There were also a number of Carroll families who settled in Bloomfield, Illinois area, but I have not been able to identify where in County Cavan they originated; but since these three families of Daugherty, Carroll, Smith and Tully all intermarried and sponsored each others' children in baptism in Illinois, I suspect that they are from the same area. Would anyone have any suggestions on how to further my search and piece together this puzzle a little more? I have hired the library in Salt Lake City to research the title applottement lists to see if they can find my Patrick listed somewhere. Perhaps anyone with a Carroll or Daugherty or Leonard or Smith in their heritage who settled in the central Illinois town of Bloomfield, IL, might have more information that we can piece together?? I know this is a long shot, but maybe we can help each other. Lois Heath --------------------------------- Don't get soaked. Take a quick peak at the forecast with theYahoo! Search weather shortcut.
