The County Cavan Newspaper Transcription has come to an end having realized its goal of transcribing all available data prior to the advent of civil registration in 1864. Now I'd like to tackle the1641 depositions, however, they are not for the feint of heart! These are claims people made of damages suffered by insurrection and contain a great deal of genealogical information. The handwriting is horrible making a literal transcription impractical. The goal of this project is to abstract the information in a format similiar to that found in Eustace, P.B. and Ellis, E. "Abstracts of Wills at the Registry of Deeds" (3 vols.), Irish Manuscripts Commission, 1954-1988. If you would like to help you must be able to spend lots of time at a microfilm reader.
