Can anyone please tell me where the Co Cavan graveyards were around the 1790's and the beginning of the 1800's. My Great x 4 Grandfather Robert Morton who was living in the Killashandra parish was not buried in the Killashandra Church of Ireland graveyard even though a child of his was buried there in 1774 while he was living in the townland of Marahill in the Kilmore parish. He was living in Condry in the Killashandra parish in 1775 when he had a daughter christened in the Killashandra church. He was also on the Flax Growers List of 1796 for Killashandra A "widow Morton"died at Corran in 1807 aged 76yrs and was buried in the Killashandra churchyard and I think this was Robert's wife so I'm wondering why he was not buried in the Killashandra graveyard as well. Any ideas on this would be much appreciated!! Anne Send instant messages to your online friends http://au.messenger.yahoo.com
Hi Ann, have no idea if this will help. We have just been to Cavan area to see the graveyards and Mortons figuered in my search but only as a twig.. We saw Mortons in Tomregan Churchyard in Ballyconnell and also in churchyards in the Templeport parish. Itook photos as I was looking for the Kells family and they were side by side. Not your early dates however.
