I understand that initially leases were for about a hundred years or perhaps 3 lives. When that period of time was up in the mid 1700's for instance, and their lease wasn't renewed for one reason or another, men had to find work elsewhere. How did they find available leases in perhaps another townland, parish or even County? I would appreciate hearing anyones thoughts or understanding of the lease system.
