    3. Thanks for your reply Jim. I should point out that since the road is already done, we can do nothing to preserve the site now. What we can do now, is perhaps what I suggested. If the bones are indeed kept in separate "bags" this is all I could suggest. Records even pre-1900 can be extremely difficult to come by, let alone much further than that. Records were destroyed as different regimes came to the island. What seems to me to remain are different religious records, old papers and manuscripts and folk songs. If this was a tragedy such as the black plague, perhaps old songs may be researched. Appreciating our ancestors, of course we're horrified at any government doing something like this road, giving no notice or anything. Political work to be done here. But that's the reality isn't it? So what we have to do is try to make sure future incursions are not made without notice and deal with what's left of this one. In this way, we do our genealogical job, we preserve for the future generations as much as we can of our heritage. Kathleen
