Finally met the folk for Mc Partland this weekend.. we now are under the impression, that perhaps George Mc Partland wasnt Roman Catholic when he first came to New Zealand, but married a Roman Catholic and perhaps then changed his religion. As another idea was that as he served with 49th Foot Regiment, this is an English Regiment, would this have been against the grain so to speak for him to be with them? Thank you... any ideas?
