According to the page from our Bible, my great grandfather sailed for America in the year 1851and was from the area of Scrabby/Portanure/Aghaveans. His name was John B. Murray and he was born about 1833. The "B" could be for Brennan. His father was Francis Murray who died April 20, 1841 at the age of 56. His mother's first name was Ellen and she died January 7, 1861 at the age of 67. John had five siblings: (1) Ellen Murray who died April 7, 1851 at the age of 20; (2) Owen Murray who died November 15, 1865 at the age of 40; (3) Michael (or Michial) Murray who died September 28, 1868 at the age of 55; (4) Catherine Murray who died February 15, 1886 at the age of 67 and (5) Margret Murray who died December 23,1898 at the age of 77. Also listed on the page are a brother-in-law, Mike Riley who died April 20,1851 at the age of 30 and a nephew Francis Riley who died December 11, 1852 at the age of 11months. John settled in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where he married Mary Riley, who bore him nine children.
