I am seeking information on my GG-grandmother's CARROLL family. She was Ellen Carroll, born 1813 in Blackstep, Parrish of Knockbride, Co. Caven, Ireland. About 1838 she married John Duffy in Ireland and their first child, Catherine was born in Ireland in 1839. By 1840 (source: 1840 census) Ellen, husband John & Catherine were in Malone, Franklin Co. New York. Ellen died 8 october 1871 in Westville, Franklin Co. and is buried at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Malone. I have no information on Ellen's parents or siblings , although one of her daughter's godmother was Anne Carroll who may have been a relative. I'm hoping that someone may have information on Carroll's who were from Blackstep & also settled in the Franklin Co. New York area. Appreciate any direction as to where to direct my search.
