    1. [IRL-CAVAN] CLARK/E, Andrew + more, NYC Interments (no subject)
    2. OK, time for that happy green jig! Today I received a new Interment List from Calvary Cemetery, Queens, NYC. It includes the names and burial dates of 13 people! Friends? Relatives? Four graves were purchased in 1872 by my g-g uncle: Andrew CLARK b. 1828, Kileen, Co. Cavan, Ireland; died NY, NY 1894 [Parents: Andrew CLARK & Margaret FARLEY/FARRELLY] Andrew was the first of his 6 siblings to arrive in NYC circa 1850. He owned a lucrative chain of NYC shoe shops, with two emigrant brothers, James & Patrick. He also had 3 sisters who emigrated to NYC, one is Annie [married Daniel O'CONNELL 1859, NYC], unsure of given names of two other sisters who emigrated. Andrew' appears to be the patriarch of his family, sponsored many others for U.S. citizenship, held Emigrant Savings Bank accounts w/ others to bring them to the USA [the initial purpose of such accounts re: the Irish diaspora], and was affiliated with Irish community groups. He was the "Irish Mensch," taking care of others, and planning ahead.
