Jane, sometimes an uncommon name is a blessing. I searched the Griffith's index for Slowey in Cavan and Fermanagh to see where it was most common and found only one--in Clones (RC Roslea) parish of Fermanagh, on the border with Cavan. Unfortunately, the filmed records go back only to 1862. Diane
Griffith's Valuation gives 33 Sloweys in Monaghan, one in Fermanagh, one in Armagh, and one in Mayo. There are also Sloeys, Sloys, both directly related to Slowey, and a lot of Mc Sloys in Co. Tyrone. DLCulhane@cs.com wrote: > Jane, sometimes an uncommon name is a blessing.
