    3. I recently came across an obituary from 1933. Can anyone tell me anything about this family or any other family named Tackney. My line is Bridget Tackney, dau. of Edward and Mary, b. about 1818 in Cootehill, Co. Cavan. She married Nicholas O'Brien, son of John and Mary. That's basically all I know. The obit reads as follows: "The Irish Times" October 23, 1933 The Rev. A. Tackney A cablegram has been received by Mr. and Mrs. Peter Tackney, Annahartina, Virginia, County Cavan, that their son, the Rev. A. Tackney, died on Friday in Brooklyn, USA. Father Tackney, who was about twenty-six years of age, was ordained as recently as June last in Carlow College, and sailed for America on September 28th. Thanks for any help! 3. Kay - I checked the BIRTH Indexes which are on film at a local Family History Center. They did have an intrigueing match. I checked 1906, 7 and 8 Birth Indexes as that was about 26 years before his death year of 1933. There was only one A name.... Andrew TACKNEY....1907 Births, 2nd quarter....Baillieborough....vol 2, page 362. Other names in that range of years were Edward and James....definitely not 'A' names. This one is most likely his birth, but I have not got access to that year's actual Civil Registrations. That year was indeed filmed by the LDS church. #258034 is 1907 Births, 2nd quarter, volume 2-1. You can search for TACKNEYs at the pilot website for the LDS church, they have the Civil Registrations for Ireland but still are missing a few names, its not reliably completed yet, but has a great deal to offer : http://pilot.familysearch.org/ Clik on the small arrow, it gets you to a homepage where you can select "Browse our Record Collections" with a small spyglass icon. Scroll down the extensive list to IRELAND and select the only database offered, Civil Registrations. Searching for TACKNEY before and after 1907 will perhaps find siblings also born Baillieborough. I found a James TACKNEY born 4Q 1908 in B'Boro, volume 2 page 310 in the filmed Indexes. That full handwritten registration is film #258067 [1908 Bs, volume 2-1]. This site below has INDEX listings and you can download actual Registrations, its called IFHF : http://ifhf.brsgenealogy.com/ Registration is free, only Downloads of actual information [transcriptions, not original images] cost 5 Euros each....all searching of the Indexes is totally free for any amount of time. I checked and found TACKNEY marriages in 1904 and 1905 including a Peter TACKNEY who is listed as the father of 'A' TACKNEY, the deceased Reverend. There are births [oddly, the 1907 birth I saw for Andrew on the Index film is not found on the IFHF site, but others are there]. The Index film will say if they are Baillieborough or not....the IFHF site does not give the parish, only the county. A combination of films and the IFHF data is best used for finding births in specific parishes. 3. THANKS, MEG. I'LL FOLLOW THROUGH AND SEE WHAT I CAN DO WITH ALL THIS... WITH MY OWN TACKNEY LINE, I HAVE THE RECORDS FROM ST. MICHAEL'S CHURCH IN COOTEHILL AND FOUND SEVERAL LISTINGS FOR BAPTISMS AND/OR MARRIAGES. JUST DON'T KNOW HOW THEY ALL FIT TOGETHER. UNFORTUNATELY, THE CHURCH RECORDS ONLY GO BACK TO 1829. NO WAY TO KNOW HOW "COMPLETE" THEY ARE.
