My gt-grandmother, Elizabeth Maguire/McGuire, b. 22 June 1829, went to Scotland from County Cavan with her husband William Ingram in 1849 and they worked in a textile factory for a year. She was the first of her family to come to Canada. Her parents Thomas & Mary with 7 other children, emigrated shortly after that, first settling within 40 miles of my old hometown of Peterborough, Ontario. There are 36 McGuire/Maguire individuals and descendants in my family tree.
