Hi and many thanks for your kind reply, sorry for the delay in answering but I have been on holiday. Yes it was suggested to me that Cavan was at one time in N ireland, I tried for a birth cert for Mary Kelly frrom the office at Belfast but thgey immediately sent my cheque back. I have tried for the republic twice, I have no family members who know where she came from, some think she may have come from Co Waterford but I have tried for that county too. I know her Father Owen definately came from Co Cavan, as I have some of his Army records and his place of birth is given as Annagh his discharge address was given as Redhill on his discharge papers. I have thought could she have been born at sea? or on route to Redhill or maybe she wasn't registered? but the family were Catholic and so I presume she was registered and probably baptised somewhere too. I have census copies but unfortunately they only give Ireland as place of birth! Regards pj
