Hello, What branch of service would a man have served in County Cavan? My grandfather (born circa 1841) received a "pension". Would this "pension" be a military one or was the "old age pension" in effect at around that time? I have come up against that proverbial brick wall in trying to go back further than 1841, since Cavan records do not go back very far...at least for me. Any help will be most appreciated. Thank you.
