    3. Lucky lucky you. I also went to Cana House about a year or so ago when we traveled to Ireland. However, they could find nothing in their records for my Samuel Hart and his wife Rebecca Kelly. The did find a Margaret Hart whose father was named Samuel Hart, with no mother's name, but so far I have not been able to connect those two Samuels - the dates, marriages, etc. don't seem to fit. Well, now that I think of it, perhaps Samuel had a girlfriend in Ireland whose baby was Margaret, and then he married Rebecca and left for Canada........ possible, I suppose! 3. >> Patrick Riley... they laughed I hope you were not too put off... The eastern part of Cavan or what was approximately East Breifne, was often called Breifne O'Reilly, from its princes or chiefs having from remote ages borne that name. See for example, Lewis Topograpical Dictionary published in 1837. It is a very common name in Cavan... Per MacLysaght: Very numerous: all areas, especially Ulster and N Leinster. Ir. Ó Raghallaigh. One of the leading septs of Breifne (Cavan). Synonyms: Reilly, Riley. MacLysaght, Edward, Irish Families, Dublin, 1980 Griffith's Primary Valuation property survey of 1848-64 has 132 O'Reillys in Cavan... the next closest is Meath with 34, and steadily declining number from there. No sign of her husband Peter Phillips. ???? Typical of my Irish women ancestors, as Francis/Mary aged, her birth years varied from (1811) on boat in 1851 to (1826) at death in NYC in 1892. Her Cavan father (no first name- Lovett) she listed as a "gardener" when Francis entered NYC Blackwell Islands Almshouse in 1891. Since daughter Delia's first child 1869 NYC, of many was my Grandfather James, fairly certain Francis/Mary's father was JAMES Lovett. Religion issues. Most Lovett's in Cavan from Belturbit were Church of Ireland., Delia married Catholic in 1867 in NYC to my ggrandfather Bernard McElroy from Fermanagh. Dick Webber

We have tracked four children who settled in Australia in 1850's, their names are: Thomas who married Harriett Franklin in Adelaide 1865, then returned to Cavan before settling in Queensland 1875. Patrick who married Mary Lynch in Adelaide 1860, they settled in Victoria. Mary who married Patrick O'Donahue in Victoria and died 1929 aged 94years Ann who married Richard Pearce and settled in Perth. Thomas and Harriet were my Great Grandparents, my grandfather John Edward was born in Lisanymore in 1875 just before the family returned to Australia.
