Hi Jean and Karen A couple of sites with index databases for Ireland below. The first has Cavan birth records (I've found my family names there,) www.irishgenealogy.ie (free search) and the 2nd link covers other Ulster Counties, but not Cavan, www.emeraldancestors.com and both are definitely worth checking if you are looking in the areas they cover. I don't know the scope of records they each offer, but worth a look anyway. Best Wishes Ava Connelly -- I am using the free version of SPAMfighter for private users. Can anyone tell me if each Kinawley parish in Co Cavan and Co Fermanagh had their own separate Church of Ireland church, or did they have a combined church as both parishes are joined together. If there were two separate churches, did both available records start in 1761 Anne Quinn Send instant messages to your online friends http://au.messenger.yahoo.com
I am looking for people, information or links which could help me with a few points in my research where I seem to have come to a stop and would appreciate all assistance: Tierney John Tierney (b 1815 Coravilla) married to Ann Nulty (b 1819 Coravilla) 5 children Patrick (24 Sept 1849) Catherine (21 Jan 1841) Rose (18 Feb 1842) Daniel (19 Jan 1845) I can bring the tree to the present day from Patrick, but have no information on the parents/siblings of John & Ann or any information of any families of Catherine, Rose or Daniel Clarke Terrance Clarke (b 1750 Coravilla) wife unknown 2 sons Michael (1790) James (1780) I can bring the tree to present day from one of Michael's daughters but cannot find any more information on this family. Cundelon Owen Cundelon (circa 1850 Drumaveigh) married to Bridget (surname unknown) 5 children Mary Bridgie Bernard Edward James I know the spelling of this surname can change, but I am at a loss to find out any more than I have, although again I can bring the tree forward from Mary. Farrelly Charlie Farrelly (circa 1850 Lurgananure) married to Bridget Clarke (circa 1850 Greaghnafarna/Granfarna) 6 children James Owen Charlie Edward Kathleen Mary Anne My research seems to have dried up on the Farrelly line and I would welcome any input. I can again bring the tree forward from James. regards Peter
I don't know what you've done, but I assume you've checked the church records for weddings of those children, followed by baptisms. You could also check the civil indexes (birth, marriage, death) and the 1901 and 1911 censuses. Get a good Irish genealogy book if you don't already have one. Diane </HTML>
Re your: * in the Public Record Office of Northern Ireland * in Local Genealogical Centres * in the Family History Library of the Church of the Latter-Day Saints * in local custody, where relevant * in the Presbyterian Historical Society * online Thank you for your information. By any chance, do you have actual website addresses that would help us find these records? I am looking for marriage records from the Clare Presbyterian Church in Co. Armagh from 1835 through 1840. If anyone has any suggestions about how I can find actual marriage information, please let me know. I have written to that church but received no answer. Thank you so much, Karen (looking for surname HART. Samuel HART married Rebecca KELLY in that church in either 1835 or 1840.)
This list of members of the Coroneary Seceder Presbyterian Church, near Cootehill, County Cavan, might be of interest to others on the list. The Coroneary Seceder Presbyterian Church is near Cootehill, County Cavan. This information was collected by Leslie McKeague. I have listed 'my' Irwins first. I would welcome any info on that family or any Pepper family from Cavan or Monaghan. Thanks, Diane W James Irwin & Martha Pepper 1. Elizabeth 1794 2. Mary 1794 3. John 1797 4. Mary 1799 5. Hi, Kelly's chuchyard is just outside Mullagh on the Virginia Road. It is the graveyard beside the Protestant church. This was the original graveyard in the parish and was used by everyone until the new graveyard was opened beside the Catholic church. Greetings from Manitoba. Hoping that you may have a Herny Nesbitt who married a Ann Irwin in County Cavan around 1819. I am searching for any clues about the Nesbitt's or Humphreys or Irwins from that County. Greetings! I have been corresponding with the Cavan Genealogical Center. They have been very helpful. !!! But I have been wondering about what records there are in Dublin that the Cavan Center doesn't have. Could someone please tell me ? Are there records there that I should be investigating as well? I have heard someone say that "I need to go to Dublin to do some research". My question is "What's there?" Any info you could give me would be most appreciated. Hello, I have recently learned that my ancestor, Thomas McGuinness died on Dec 8, 1938 and is buried in "Kelly's Churchyard". Their farm was in Seeharan, Mullagh Parish, so I assume this churchyard is closeby. Is there anyone out there who knows where "Kelly's Churchyard" is? Thanks. :-) ************************************** AOL now offers free email to everyone. Find out more about what's free from AOL at http://www.aol.com.
Hi Kay, Thank you for the Photocopy and the website with Cavan News. Lots of possibilities, I am sure. It must be a wonderful feeling to know that you make some researchers very happy! That way, you can see the marriage listing in its original form. I am so pleased that people are finding their ancestors!!! Since you're new, have you checked all the entries we've contributed from the Anglo-Celt and the Cavan Weekly News? The intimate friends of the late captain assembled > in large numbers, and followed, walking two by two, and very many of the > citizens accompanied the mournful cortege. Following the mourning coach > and > the deceased's own private carriage were those of the following: - His > Grace the Lord Primate, Colonel SIMPSON, Mr. Robert BOYD, J.P.; Mrs. > COOTE, > Mr. Robert M'CRUM, Rev. Mr. MORGAN, &c. Arrived at the train, the coffin > was placed in a carriage by four of the deceased's most trusty and oldest > sergeants, when they, with the sub-inspectors and the immediate relatives, > left very shortly for Enniskillen, the native place of the Fawcett family. > The deceased was highly respected in the county, and his death is > universally regretted. Messrs. FRIZELLE, of Armagh, had charge of the > funeral arrangements. - Cor. Of Belfast News-Letter. > > > > > > DEPORTATION OF IRISH PAUPERS. > > A Jersey correspondent writes that the authorities in that island > have > a rough-and-ready way of getting rid of any parochial burdens, actual or > prospective, when the unfortunate creature who has the ill-luck to fall > into > a destitute condition happens to be in the language of country, un > etranger. > The term is of rather wide application, inasmsuch as it includes not only > "foreigners" in the usual meaning of the term, but even natives of Great > Britain - all in fact not born in Jersey. Nor does the exception hold > good > in every instance. According to the dictum of the Crown officers of the > island, "the child follows the fortune of the father," so that a child > born > of English or Irish parents on Jersey soil is not entitled to the benefit > of > the national privileges. A couple of cases have just been brought to > public > notice. One of them was that of Mary KENNEDY, an Irishwoman, who had been > sent to prison thirty-five times by the police magistrate for drunkenness > and distu! > rbing the peace, and was sent at last by him before the Royal Court for > heavier punishment than he was able to give her. Her husband, who is a > few > years her senior, has been for some time an inmate of the workhouse, being > unable to labour, and a child ten years old is also in that establishment. > The husband and child were brought to the bar in company with Mary Kennedy > and in reply to his examiners Kennedy stated that he was a native of > Wexford, and had been in Jersey thirty-six years, his wife having been > there > twenty-four years. The Court decided to get rid of the two, and ease the > ratepayers of any further trouble on their account, by ordering their > "removal to their place of settlement." As this proceeding, however, > would > cost the ratepayers a considerable sum of money, the "removal" really > means > simply transporting them to Southampton, and casting them adrift penniless > to find their way to Wexford if they can. The chances of reaching that > remote locality are very ! > small, and it is very unlikely that they attempt. The probability is > that in a short time they will be bundled back to Jersey as their proper > place of settlement, to be again flung across the Channel on the chance of > finding a settlement somewhere. > > > > > > (County Cavan Newspaper Transcription Project) > > > > ------------------------------- > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to > [email protected] with the word 'unsubscribe' without the > quotes in the subject and the body of the message > > > -- > No virus found in this incoming message. > Checked by AVG Free Edition. > Version: 7.5.446 / Virus Database: 268.18.14/727 - Release Date: > 19/03/2007 > 11:49 a.m. > > > > ------------------------------- > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to > [email protected] with the word 'unsubscribe' without the > quotes in the subject and the body of the message > ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to [email protected] with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message -- No virus found in this incoming message.
