Transcribed by Selina Lawlor By William Fishbourne, Esquire one of His Majesty’s Justice of the peace for said County The information of Mary White wife of Denis White of Pollerton Road near Carlow, County Carlow, Stone Cutter, who being duly sworn on the Holy Evangelists and examined saith that on the morning of Saturday the 2nd day of November 1822, Mary White, having been sent for by her sister who being ill in childbed and as Mary White stood by the bedside of her sister. She was then and there most violently and wantingly assaulted by her sister’s husband’s brother, Michael Meara of Staplestown Road, Cooper, who dragged and mauled Mary White pushed her down on the bed of his sick sister, called her Strumpet and other disgraceful names, threatened her and forcibly pushed and dragged her out to the street and threw out her cloak after her by which Mary White is injured and scandalized.
