Thanks Anna. I have only the one Dowling family : Patrick and Rosanna and their children, Michael, John, Margaret, Teresa, Elizabeth. Plus the two girls mentioned below, Marian and Julia who went to Canada, who appear to have left home before 1901 census. Both 1901 and 1911 census shows Patrick, Rosanna, and family at Broughilstown, Rahill (Rathvilly). The gravestone in St. Patk's I mentioned below also has a James Dowling who died young in 1840, probably a brother of Patrick, and a Michael Dowling of Broughillstwn d. 1885, and his wife Judith, d. 1850, who appear to be Patrick's parents. Don't know how many Dowling were in Rathvilly in those days, but would guess your Dowlings are connected to this family somehow.
