Thanks to all, for your effort on this subject, I left carlow 40 years ago and am very proud to be a Carlowman. The town is a bit shabby now due to the recession, like most other towns in Ireland. However the opening up of St Patricks College with the new arts centre makes a great impression. The plaque should be reinstated on some building in Tullow street. The plaques on the old library building opposite the Courthouse are also a testement that Carlow people are proud of their history both town and county. Has there ever been a serious effort to discover what happened to the plaque (stone or timber) that I understand was in the mortuary chaple in the Cathedral commerating the Carlowmen who died in WW1 ? Could it be in the attic of the Cathedral? Good luck with the restoration of the 1798 plaque.
