    3. Hi List, Reading this article brought back memories of searching, and finding, this old Graveyard in Carlow. I had been asked by an Australian Lister to search for her ancestor's grave during our ten day stay in Carlow a few years back. The Archivist in the Library did not know where it was located! On my second last day, I eventually went to the Town Hall office and was served by a very helpful lady who looked up the Burials and then directed me to the Graveyard. Only a short walking distance away, through a gate and there it was, a peaceful, if overgrown spot on the banks of the river. With the aid of the map provided I easily found the grave, photographed it and sent it off to Queensland! I never did get back to the Archives to inform them in case others came looking. On another note, yesterday I received a letter posted by the owner of our previous house. On renovating the fireplace in the main bedroom, the builder discovered an old photograph which had fallen down behind the mantelpiece. Fortunately, on the back was written, in my now deceased Aunt's writing, that the couple depicted were her g. grandparents, my g.g.grandparents and my daughter's g.g.g.grandparents - the McKENZIES from Scotland. Wrong!!! Through my own research I know that they are my g.g.grandparents, Thomas and Mary SHARKEY from Roscommon, N. Ireland.....the Catholic, not Presbyterian side of the family. This photograph is on the cover of a book, written about the family. Their daughter, Mary SHARKEY married Phillip MOORE (family from Clonmore, co.Carlow). Just goes to show, research the provenance and don't trust anything written by a family member!! Thank goodness though that my Aunt did write it on the back of the old photograph though, because otherwise it would not have been returned to me. In this Family History lark, we are grateful for anything! Cheers!.........Judy, Perth W.Australia
