    3. Post from Ireland-Gen-Newbies Website. 8 Session Online Irish Culture Course - Starting Soon. Hi All, Sorry for the wide distribution and cross posts, but I think that this will have wide appeal. An 8 session online Irish culture course is starting soon on June 3. It is hosted by Hibernia College in Dublin and called Exploring Irish Identity. There will be 8 themes with materials posted each week and they will stay online for a number of weeks, starting with history, literature and film and going on through art, language, music and dance, landscape and the GAA )Gaelic Athletics Association’. It is timed in 2013 to coincide with The Gathering, a year/long homecoming of events organized for the worldwide Irish diaspora, especially those returning to their roots this year. Of course, not everyone can travel to Ireland, but this online course is for anyone anywhere and sounds like it is getting off to a good start. The website is up now and people are introducing themselves and signing up for special interest groups, about the themes but also on topics like family history. Like many of the Gathering initiatives, it offers the diaspora a chance to come in contact with interested people "on the ground" in parts of Ireland in which you are interested or from where your ancestors migrated across whichever pond.
