Dear John and the List..... I just happened to come upon a reference to the surname GAHAN today on the PEI Island Register for this week. I had just seen this reference to Rev John Gahan....and was surprised to see the unusual name twice in one day. So I'm sending along the information found on the PEI website just in case it might be useful to someone on our list. Found in a Prince Edward Island newspaper...... Daily Examiner Thurs., 15 Feb., 1900, p 2 - DIED At Lot 11 on the 31st ult., Philip Gahan, aged 103 years and 4 months, The deceased was a native of Malpeque, but spent the greater part of his long life at Lot 11, and was highly esteemed by all who knew him. In the early days of the Island's history, when the traveling was done by foot or boat, and later by driving, Mr. Gahan's home was often filled with travellers whom he delighted to entertain., and from whom he would never accept any recompense. His remains were interred in St. Bridget's Cemetery, Lot 11. Hope it will help someone....
