Father James Conran was Parish Priest in Ballon 1802 -1825. Prior to that he was P.P. in Rosenallis, Queen's County (Co. Laois). Following the death of Bishop Corcoran in 1819, James was appointed Vicar-Capitular of the Diocese of Kildare and Leighlin.
