This info is for Roger Nowlan, but I thought I'd post here in case there is anyone else who might be interested. Roger, you can add this to your page about this particular Michael Nolan on your site. (He is not to be confused with another Michael Nolan with wife Ellen Scanlon who is not from Carlow.) Michael Nolan's wife was Eliza Dolan born probably in Pennsylvania USA. That piece of information, while good, doesn't help me one bit in trying to determine why Michael Nolan is "Uncle Mike" to the brothers Thomas and Joseph Aughney of Roscat, Tullow! which was my original query... Michael and Eliza are listed in the 1900 US Federal Census in Madison, Wisconsin, with Thomas H., Mary, Nellie and Elizabeth. The census indicates that Eliza had 5 children with 4 still living. They are in the 1905 Wisconsin State Census as follows: Michael Nolan, age 60, b. Ire Eliza Nolan, wife, age 48, b. Pennsylvania Harry Nolan, son, age 19, b. Wisconsin [Thomas Henry aka Henry T.] Mary, daughter, age 18, b. Wisconsin Nellie, daughter, age 16, b. Wisconsin Elizabeth, daughter, age 7, b. Wisconsin In the 1910 census, Michael, age 72 is a widower, and son Henry T. and daughters Nellie and Elizabeth are living at home with him. According to 1902 and 1905 immigration records for a Joseph Aghney, Michael was an uncle to Joseph and Thomas Aughney, the latter living on Monmouth St. in New Jersey. In 1905, Joseph's last residence had been Tullow in Co.
