The Jurors of our Lord the King upon their oath, present that, Patrick Hughes of Ballinbrannagh, in the County of Carlow, Yeoman on the first day of April in the tenth year of the reign of our Sovereign Lord George the Fourth, of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, King, Defender of the Faith, and soforth, at Crossneen in the County of Carlow, in and upon one Patrick Nowlan a true and faithful subject of our said Lord the King, in the peace of God, and in the peace of our said Lord the King, then and there being, did make an assault and him the said Patrick Nowlan then and there did beat, wound, and ill treat, so that his life was greatly despaired of, and other wrongs to the said Patrick Nowlan then and there did, to the great damage of the said Patrick Nowlan and against the peace of our said Lord the King, his crown and dignity.
