    3. Maurice Hackettstown is close as are all the places in Carlow but I really don't know I'm sorry which is why I have posted to the list hoping for more information prior to 1832. Originally this family was from England and I have found them spelling the name Colman as well. You might well be right about Comen but you will need better proof than a suspicion to confirm this besides 1848 is getting a bit late for too many spelling mistakes I would have thought.     2. Barbara, The spelling mistake could have occurred at immigration. It certainly did, in the opposite direction, in church records in Baltimore when the children died! You're right -- it's just a suspicion at the moment. But it's the best I've done after 3 trips to Carlow over 52 years!
