Thanks Michael, that has given me an even more definite area to look at. Until we discovered the army record we had only verbal stories to go on which pointed us to Kildare and Cork. Everything seemed to come up against a brick wall. The name as we have known it has always been spelt without an e, but I usually look at both spellings as the name with an e is more common. Kay
