Michelle, Wouldn't that information be held as strictly confidential? Or is that just in recent history? Thank you for answering Francis, I really don't know about how long the confidentiality would last. I have been trying to locate my gggrandfather for 4 years. He seemed to dropo off the face of the earth after 1882 but just received a snippet of information that the person believed he died at the asylum on May 22, 1911. Would like to vaerify his death some way and also if possible learn when he was admitted and why. God help him, Michelle. In those days if you were acting a little bit differently than others, although sane enough, they'd put you away. The poor man probably didn't put up with anyone's crap (excuse the expression) and they thought he needed to be separated from society. Here in PA in the US, they closed a city-sized mental institution years ago. They must have realized that the majority of the patients did not need to be locked up in an institution.
