    3. Can anyone tell me the fate of the registers of Barragh Church of Ireland? Or, which was the local church? In Griffith's, even then the ancient church is described as a ruins, with a graveyard. Bill

    3. Bill, The ruins of the old Barragh church/abbey are between Kildavin and Myshall in a small valley with a stream running along the valley floor, flowing in the direction of Kildavin. When I last visted Co. Carlow I identified where they were but could not get close to them. Using binoculars I could however see that there seemed to be a few old stones in an area overgrown with brush. I also seem to remember reading that the Barragh church was abandoned in the 1700s. Based upon the location of Barragh it is possible that the old registers were forwarded to Kildavin, Clonegal or Myshall.
